Year of the Dragon 2024

January 28, 2024|Korean blog, Korean food, year of the dragon

The year of the dragon is a special and auspicious year in the Korean zodiac. It is the only mythical creature among the 12 animals, and it symbolizes strength, wisdom, and good fortune. People born in the year of the dragon are believed to be ambitious, charismatic, and creative. They are also confident, adventurous, and passionate. The year of the dragon is a time for pursuing big dreams and achieving success. Here is a short poem about the year of the dragon from a Korean perspective:

The dragon soars in the sky

With power and grace It brings luck and prosperity

To the people and the place

The dragon is a legend

But also a reality

It inspires us to be bold and brave

 And to live with dignity

Have a wonderful and prosperous year from Seoul Kitchen!

The octopus and the dragon are both symbolic creatures in Korean culture. The octopus represents the sea, while the dragon represents the sky. They are often depicted as enemies, fighting for supremacy over the natural world. In some Korean temple art, the octopus and the dragon are shown in a fierce battle, with the octopus trying to drag the dragon down into the water, and the dragon trying to escape and fly away. This motif is meant to illustrate the cosmic struggle between the yin and yang forces, as well as the harmony and balance of nature

The turtle and the dragon are both symbolic creatures in Korean culture, often associated with longevity, wisdom, and power. They are also seen as representations of the yin and yang forces, or the harmony and balance of nature. In some Korean temple art, the turtle and the dragon are depicted as supporting or carrying stone monuments, such as steles or bells. These monuments usually commemorate important historical events, religious teachings, or royal figures. The turtle and the dragon are meant to protect and honor the monuments, as well as to convey the wishes for prosperity and peace
